Salt London
If you're wandering around Leicester Square and find yourself craving something indulgent, bold, and satisfying, Salt London might just be the spot that hits the mark. Nestled at 20-21 Leicester Square, this laid-back eatery is all about comfort food done right - burgers, fries, sliders, sandwiches, and all the messy, meaty goodness that comes with them. It's a place that draws in the solo diner on a quick lunch break as much as it does groups grabbing a late-night bite after a show.
Salt London keeps it simple, but don’t confuse that with boring. Their burger menu is stacked with heavy hitters. The Original Beef Burger and Fries is a no-nonsense classic - juicy beef patty, lightly toasted bun, crisp lettuce, tangy pickles, all balanced with melty cheese and a side of golden French fries. If you're feeling adventurous, the Hook Burger and Fries with Cheese adds a sharp punch, thanks to the generous layer of cheese and a hook of spices that lingers pleasantly. The Inside of Cheeseburger is often highlighted by regulars as the real gem - think gooey cheese melded into the patty for that molten, almost lava-like texture with every bite.
Then come the Sliders. These bite-sized delights are perfect if you want variety or simply don’t want to commit to a full burger. Each one has its own distinct flavor profile, and they’re ideal for sharing - or not, if you're hungry enough. Throw in a side of Cheese Fries or French Fries, and you’re looking at the kind of lunch that warms your soul and slows down your day in the best possible way.
On the sandwich side, Salt London offers more than just your usual fare. The Pork Sandwich brings that Southern-style comfort to the table - slow-cooked, seasoned, and juicy. There’s also the Fish Sandwich, a flaky, golden fillet that’s crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and surprisingly refreshing when paired with the house-made sauce.
If you're in the mood for something heartier, don’t skip the Philly Cheese Steak. It’s loaded with thin slices of beef, sautéed onions, peppers, and a waterfall of cheese - all tucked into a soft roll that holds together just long enough for you to devour it. It’s messy. It’s flavorful. It’s exactly what you want it to be.
Service here is counter-style and fast-paced, but friendly. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeaway, the staff move with precision, but they’re not too busy to crack a smile or recommend a favorite dish. Accessibility-wise, the entrance is wheelchair-friendly, though parking may require a short walk due to the central London location.
As for the atmosphere, Salt London doesn’t try to be fancy. The vibe is casual, welcoming, and a bit edgy - exactly what you’d expect from a place in the heart of a city that never stops moving. It's popular for lunch crowds looking to refuel quickly and dinner-goers seeking comfort food before hitting a movie or heading home. Solo diners also find it ideal - you won’t feel out of place eating alone, especially with counter seating and quick service.
Beyond food, Salt London also serves alcohol and coffee, which is a big plus. You can grab a cold beer with your burger or settle down with a strong coffee and fries during a late-night craving. They also cater to those looking for a quick bite or smaller portions, thanks to the small plates option - perfect for those who like to graze or mix and match.
Salt London stands out in a sea of touristy options thanks to its commitment to quality, portion size, and sheer indulgence. The kitchen doesn’t hold back - from the thick patties to the cheesy fries - and that’s exactly why people keep coming back. It's not just a meal; it's a full-on flavor fix when you need it most.
Reviews
Staff were friendly and explained everything well and answered any questions we had. Food came within 5 minutes for two double slider meal orders. Atmosphere was great, music was great, restaurant looks very nice on the inside. Lots of seating and wasn’t noisy. Seating was comfortable. Many ways to order and pay such as QR scans on tables, machines at entrance or at the bar. Decor is amazing. Food is exactly as expected from the picture and the prices were reasonable for London. Cheaper than other places around but as good. Food filled me up. Great place would recommend.
The burger was cooked to perfection - the patty was thick and meaty, with just the right amount of char on the outside. The toppings were generous and fresh, with a slice of melted cheese that added an extra layer of creaminess. The bun was soft and lightly toasted, holding everything together beautifully. It was clear that the chef knew exactly what they were doing when they put this bad boy together! But the real star of the show was the chicken nuggets. I mean, who doesn't love a good nugget?! These were crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of flavor. The portion size was generous, too. The dipping sauce was the perfect accompaniment, adding a tangy kick that elevated the whole experience.
The food was delicious, especially for burger lovers! The atmosphere was excellent and suitable for everyone. Highly recommend for a great dining experience.
The most important thing is the food is Halal. The food was amazing and delicious and Mr. Hisham was super fantastic with us and super welcoming. We have “SALT” in our country but what I have tasted here was on other level.
Great athmosphere and nice people, we got our food really fast and it was delicious. It was not noisy since there were only a few people. Comparing to other restaurants in the area, the prices were much cheaper. The toilets were also good, and there was table football.
